Opposition Voices Suppressed in India: AAP MLA Mehraj Malik Speaks Out

Jammu, April 28: AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, recently released from jail under the Public Safety Act (PSA), expressed the challenges faced by him and his community. He stated that it has been a difficult time for many innocent individuals, including thousands who remain unjustly imprisoned.

Malik emphasized that the hopes of those who trusted and elected him have been confined, and his own time in jail has had a lasting impact. “Eight months in prison may not seem significant for one person, but it has affected the aspirations for the betterment of the public,” he remarked.

He asserted that those responsible for these injustices will eventually face consequences, describing the situation as a matter of time. “We entered politics to serve, but instead, we find ourselves defending our innocence and making arguments,” he added.

Malik highlighted the challenges faced by the opposition in expressing their voices in the current political landscape. He condemned the communal politics occurring in West Bengal, stating that such actions are unacceptable in a democracy. “For 70 years, the BJP was absent while Congress dominated; now that Congress is gone, I too will not be here forever. We must spend our time wisely,” he said, criticizing the sowing of seeds of hatred while claiming aspirations of becoming a global leader.

He urged that true leadership comes from supporting truth and justice. Malik also called for the government to condemn any false statements made by outsiders about the country, while highlighting that those who wish to contribute positively within the nation are often labeled as traitors. “I have never supported terrorism, yet I have faced accusations simply for being a Muslim,” he stated.

Praising Arvind Kejriwal, Malik noted that he supported him for improving schools, hospitals, and providing free electricity in Delhi. “I wanted to be part of that change. If the BJP had a similar vision, they would have the support of millions of Muslims. We should prioritize actions over religion,” he concluded.

Malik also accused Pakistan of previously undermining the country through armed conflict and jihad, and now resorting to drug trafficking to destroy local communities.
