Opposition Leaders Criticize Government at Mega Rally in Delhi
Opposition leaders unite in Delhi, targeting government failures and election commission issues at a massive rally.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant show of unity, opposition leaders gathered at the Ram Leela Maidan in New Delhi on November 1, 2026, to launch a sharp critique of the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, as well as the Election Commission. The rally, organized by the Indi Alliance, featured prominent figures including Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda, and SP MP Narayan Das Ahirwar.
During the event, Akhilesh Yadav specifically targeted the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, noting that he had admitted to a loss of 1.27 crore votes. Yadav questioned why this revelation came only after the CM’s defeat in the MLC elections. He derisively remarked, “Those who spoke of a double-engine government have now turned into double zeros. They cannot even accept their defeat.” He also highlighted that the government had sought a recount of votes, leading to a double loss for the so-called double-engine government.
Yadav further challenged the Chief Minister’s claim that 1.27 crore votes did not belong to Hindus, demanding clarity on the source of this data. He emphasized that such information is not something easily accessible to the public.
Sanjay Raut described the rally as a mega event rather than just a regular gathering. He explained that the decision to convene at Ram Leela Maidan came after police obstructed opposition protests at Jantar Mantar. Raut asserted that the entire nation would unite at this venue to safeguard democracy.
He criticized both the government and the Election Commission, urging a fight against these forces to protect democratic values. Raut affirmed that under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership, opposition parties are united, and this movement is far from over.
Deepender Singh Hooda labeled the rally as historic, noting that a large number of participants from Haryana had already filled half of the ground. He expressed that public anger against the government was palpable, particularly concerning the BJP’s attempts to monopolize democracy. He accused the Election Commission of colluding with the government to remove names from voter lists, which has fueled public outrage.
Hooda also alleged that barriers were erected to prevent attendees from reaching the rally, and that traffic was being deliberately slowed. He called on Haryana police to ensure smooth access for participants, given that the rally had received official approval.
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda remarked that millions were joining the rally in response to Rahul Gandhi’s call. He emphasized that this was a manifestation of the people’s voice against the current leadership of the Election Commission.
Regarding the barricades and potential losses to local businesses, he assured that the rally would be peaceful. He noted that while barriers were in place, they would not hinder the movement of participants, who would also engage in shopping, thus minimizing any adverse impact on merchants.
Narayan Das Ahirwar of the Samajwadi Party highlighted the discontent among various societal groups, including traders, the middle class, laborers, and farmers. He criticized the ruling party for its propensity to mislead the public.
The rally underscored the growing discontent among opposition parties and their determination to challenge the current government’s policies and practices.
