Opposition Accuses Conspiracy Behind Womens Reservation Bill Failure: Neeraj Kumar

Patna, April 20: JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar has criticized the India Bloc, claiming they oppose reservation for women. He stated that the bill was deliberately defeated in Parliament.

In a conversation in Patna regarding women’s reservation, Kumar targeted the India Bloc, asserting that its members do not want women from backward and extremely backward communities to receive reservations. He accused them of wanting to send only those linked to dynastic politics to the legislature, highlighting their anti-women stance.

Commenting on BJP leaders’ statements about implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Bengal, Kumar remarked that whether the UCC is enacted is a matter for the central government. However, he emphasized that JD(U) has always maintained that no community should be harmed. He criticized the TMC government under Mamata Banerjee for failing to showcase its achievements during her tenure, mentioning issues like the encroachment of cemeteries, the construction of hostels for minorities, and the development of impoverished communities. He noted that basic amenities such as roads and electricity were also neglected, with the TMC focusing solely on statements regarding the Election Commission and SIR, which could lead to dire consequences.

Kumar praised Nitish Kumar as a role model, stating that the Constitution allows respect for all religions. He highlighted that during his tenure, Nitish ensured the protection of both cemeteries and temples, reflecting his ideal approach.

On the other hand, BJP MP Dharmshila Gupta criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, claiming that on April 17, opposition parties halted the women’s reservation bill at his behest. She accused them of undermining women’s rights in the country, stating that the opposition only recognizes figures like Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Indira Gandhi, ignoring the rights of ordinary women.

Gupta asserted that Prime Minister Modi aims to uplift women from all backgrounds. She pointed out that he appointed a woman from a humble family as a Rajya Sabha MP, while Lalu Prasad Yadav appointed his wife as Chief Minister and sent his daughter to the Lok Sabha. She emphasized that their party is one for the workers and accused the opposition of disrespecting women in the country.

She also mentioned that anger marches have begun nationwide, with thousands of women taking to the streets in Patna. Despite having a female Chief Minister in Bengal, she claimed that Mamata Banerjee contributed to blocking reservations, indicating that women would not allow her to remain in power.
