Kohima, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : The NSCN/GPRN, through its Ministry of Information and Public Relations, has issued a statement accusing the Indian government of advocating for peace and dialogue on international platforms while allegedly failing to address the Naga political issue on the ground.
The organization claims that while India promotes principles such as peace, diplomacy, and dialogue globally, it has not taken the necessary steps to implement the Naga political agreements.
In their statement, they referenced the recent 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, where India supported multilateral reforms, democratic global order, sovereign equality, and peaceful resolution of disputes through the New Delhi Declaration 2026. Despite these commitments, NSCN/GPRN argues that the Indian government maintains a different stance regarding the Naga issue.
The organization pointed out that the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, recognized the unique history and political identity of the Naga people. However, years after the agreement, full implementation remains unfulfilled. They alleged that the government prioritizes a security-based approach over a political resolution.
Highlighting the situation in Manipur, NSCN/GPRN stated that the government has failed to prevent ethnic tensions and conflicts in the region. They also accused the government of indirectly supporting certain armed groups, contributing to regional instability. The statement did not include any response from the Indian government regarding these allegations.
NSCN/GPRN emphasized that they have participated in peace talks since 1997 and have shown considerable patience. They warned that if the political dialogue does not progress and repressive policies continue, the peace process could be jeopardized. They stressed that honest and meaningful dialogue between both parties is essential for a lasting solution.
In conclusion, NSCN/GPRN reiterated its demand for the elimination of all forms of colonialism and called on the Indian government to take concrete steps toward a peaceful resolution of the Naga political issue.
