Ghazipur, August 13: The police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, achieved a significant breakthrough in a case involving the abduction of minor girls. Sanjay Bind, also known as Bujharat Bind, a wanted criminal with a bounty of ₹50,000, was apprehended following an encounter with law enforcement. During the encounter, he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was subsequently transported to a hospital. Authorities also recovered illegal firearms and ammunition from his possession.
According to police reports, on the night of August 12, the officer in charge of Saidpur received a tip-off indicating that the wanted criminal was traveling from Sadat towards Ghazipur. Acting on this information, the police team set up a blockade near Ahirauli village on the Old Pitch Road. As they attempted to stop the suspect, he lost control of his motorcycle and fell.
The police claim that upon realizing he was surrounded, the suspect fired 5-6 rounds at the police team with the intent to kill. In return fire, a bullet struck his leg, causing him to fall. He was then arrested and taken for medical treatment.
Saidpur Circle Officer Shubham Verma confirmed the identity of the arrested individual as Sanjay Bind, a 38-year-old resident of Akathiya, Muhammadabad police station, currently living in Bakrabada, Maharajganj, under the Kotwali Ghazipur jurisdiction. He has a criminal record with 14 cases registered against him.
From his possession, police recovered a .315 bore pistol, one cartridge, two motorcycles, and ₹1,300. The accused faces multiple serious charges, including theft, violations of the Arms Act, and the NDPS Act. Legal proceedings against him are underway.
