Seoul, May 31: North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui stated that the country shares a “common perspective” with Russia on all strategic issues.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Choe made this remark during a ceremony held at the Russian embassy in Pyongyang. The event was organized to unveil a memorial plaque in honor of the late Russian Ambassador Alexander Matsegora.
Matsegora served as Russia’s ambassador to North Korea for over a decade. He passed away suddenly last December at the age of 70, with the cause of his death not disclosed.
As reported by the Yonhap news agency citing TASS, Choe emphasized, “Today, North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and Russia share a common perspective on all strategic issues, reflecting the level of alliance between the two countries.”
She added, “Moscow and Pyongyang are continuously defending their shared and vital interests. This is why the bilateral relations between the two nations are expanding, promoting the welfare of both peoples.”
Choe reaffirmed North Korea’s commitment to strengthening ties with Russia. She noted that the relationship is based on “comradeship and trust,” which has only grown stronger through the tests of time.
She also indicated that North Korea would deepen cooperation with Russia in accordance with agreements made between the top leadership of both countries.
North Korea’s state news agency KCNA reported on Sunday that several senior officials, including Choe Son-hui, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, attended the ceremony at the Russian embassy.
