Noida, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Noida have made a significant drug bust, arresting a suspect and seizing 41.4 kilograms of cannabis valued at approximately ₹8 lakh. The operation was conducted by the police from the Phase-2 police station as part of their ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug sales and trafficking.
On September 30, 2026, police were conducting routine checks in the area when they received a tip about a suspicious individual near the Bhangel cremation ground. Upon arrival, they discovered the suspect engaging in dubious activities and took him into custody. A thorough search revealed a large quantity of cannabis in his possession.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Prince Kumar Sahu, a resident of Firozpur village in Godda district, Jharkhand. He was reportedly living in a rented room near the Tigris roundabout in the Bisrakh area of Noida. During interrogation, Sahu disclosed that he transported cannabis from Bihar by train, selling it at a higher price in Noida.
The police are now working to uncover additional details about other individuals involved in the trafficking network and the sources of the cannabis. They are also investigating the intended recipients of such a large quantity of the drug within the Noida-NCR region. In addition to the cannabis, authorities seized a TVS Sports motorcycle believed to have been used for transporting the drugs, which has since been impounded. Cash amounting to ₹1,800, reportedly obtained from cannabis sales, was also confiscated.
Following the seizure, police have registered a case against Sahu under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are pursuing further legal action. The investigation continues as authorities seek to dismantle the broader drug trafficking network associated with this incident.
