Nitin Naveen Takes Charge as BJP National President After Puja at Jhandewalan Temple

New Delhi: Nitin Naveen, the newly appointed National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will formally assume office on Tuesday. The oath-taking ceremony is expected to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with several senior party leaders. Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, national office bearers, state unit presidents, and members of the party’s national executive committee are also likely to attend.

Before taking charge as BJP National President, Nitin Naveen performed a religious ritual at the Jhandewalan Devi Temple located in Karol Bagh, Delhi. He also paid his respects at the Gurudwara Shri Bangla Sahib in the national capital.

Nitin Naveen will officially be declared the BJP National President on Tuesday, becoming the party’s 12th leader to hold this prestigious position. At 45 years of age, he is the youngest politician to reach this level in the party’s history.

On Monday, Nitin Naveen filed his nomination as the sole candidate from the BJP. Several senior leaders, Chief Ministers, and representatives from various states submitted their nomination papers endorsing him, indicating strong organisational unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders were among those who supported his candidature.

In an official statement, the National Returning Officer K. Laxman confirmed that after the nomination process and withdrawal period concluded, only Nitin Naveen’s name remained. Between 2 PM and 4 PM, 37 sets of nomination papers endorsing Naveen were received, all of which were verified and found valid, clearing the way for his unopposed election.

Earlier, on 14 December 2025, Nitin Naveen was elected as the National Executive President of the BJP. He received backing from the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and outgoing party president J.P. Nadda.
