NIA Files Third Charge Sheet in Cross-Border Arms and Drug Trafficking Case

The NIA has filed a third charge sheet in a cross-border trafficking case, naming two new accused and adding charges against six others.

New Delhi, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a third charge sheet in a case involving an international arms and drug trafficking syndicate operating in northern India. This latest filing includes two new accused individuals and adds further charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against six previously named defendants.

The newly identified suspects are Satyanarayan Meghwal, son of Ami Lal, and Sahil Godara, son of Vijay Singh. Both were arrested in July 2026. The charge sheet was filed in a special NIA court located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under various provisions of the UAPA, the Arms Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the Indian Penal Code.

In addition to the new charges, the NIA has also applied additional UAPA provisions to the six previously accused individuals. This case is linked to a suspected organized smuggling network with cross-border connections. The NIA had earlier filed two charge sheets on August 14, 2025, and February 5, 2026.

Investigations revealed that members of this syndicate used drones to drop shipments of foreign-made illegal weapons, ammunition, and heroin near international border areas. These consignments were subsequently retrieved by co-accused and other network members for distribution in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.

Authorities have also discovered that the gang utilized encrypted communication channels to coordinate their activities, manage logistics, and evade law enforcement agencies. The NIA has alleged that the network aimed to target vulnerable youth through drug distribution, promote addiction, exploit individuals, and incite discontent against India.

The agency stated that it is continuing its investigation to identify and apprehend other suspects, uncover the extensive network, and fully understand the scope of the alleged criminal activities.
