Indore, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In Indore, a tragic incident has emerged as police reported the discovery of a newlywed woman’s body in a water tank just 25 days after her marriage. The victim has been identified as Vandana Kushwaha. Her body was found on Thursday in the Nehru Nagar area, under suspicious circumstances.
Authorities were alerted by neighbors, leading to the recovery of the body, which has since been sent for a postmortem examination. Initial investigations revealed visible injuries on Vandana’s body. Her husband, Upendra Patel, and his brother have been taken into custody for questioning.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Nidhi Saxena stated, “At first glance, this appears to be a homicide. However, the exact cause of death will be determined following the postmortem report.”
According to police reports, Vandana and Patel initially lived in Nehru Nagar before moving to a rented house in Rajnagar, reportedly due to Patel’s issues with substance abuse. The couple had a love marriage on August 11, after which Vandana moved in with Patel.
Vandana’s family had previously filed a missing person report at the Chandan Nagar police station. They later informed police that Vandana had expressed her desire to live with Patel, despite frequent arguments between the couple over his addiction.
The situation escalated on Thursday afternoon when neighbors reportedly heard screams coming from Vandana’s home. Shortly after, Patel emerged from the house, and neighbors noticed bloodstains on his shirt. Concerned about the lack of activity in the home, they contacted the police.
Saxena confirmed, “Police arrived on the scene and recovered Vandana’s body from the water tank outside the house. We are currently interrogating her husband and brother-in-law while investigating all aspects surrounding the death.”
Authorities expect the postmortem results to provide crucial evidence regarding the cause of death, which will guide further actions in the case.
