Bristol, June 23: New Zealand secured a convincing victory against Scotland in the 19th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Tuesday, winning by six wickets. The match, held at County Ground, saw a remarkable century partnership between Brooke Holiday and Izzy Sharp, which played a crucial role in New Zealand’s success.
In Group B of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, New Zealand currently stands third, having won two out of four matches. Scotland, on the other hand, is positioned fourth after losing three out of four games. England leads the group with a hat-trick of victories (+2.490), followed by the West Indies, who have also won three matches (+0.644).
Batting first after losing the toss, Scotland managed to score 131 runs, losing seven wickets in the process. The opening duo of Darcy Carter and Katherine Fraser provided a solid start, putting together a partnership of 51 runs in just 7.1 overs.
Katherine was dismissed for just 7 runs off 17 balls, after which Darcy took charge. She formed a 38-run partnership for the third wicket with Sarah Bryce, who scored 25 runs off 22 balls, including three boundaries. Priyanka Chatterjee contributed 12 runs, while Darcy remained unbeaten at 72 runs off 52 balls, hitting one six and eight fours.
From the New Zealand camp, captain Amelia Kerr claimed three wickets for just 17 runs in four overs, while Sophie Devine took two wickets. Lea Tahuhu and Nancy Patel each took one wicket.
In response, New Zealand chased down the target in 18.2 overs. They lost Amelia Kerr (2), Isabel Gaze (16), and Sophie Devine (1) early, with the score at 26. However, Izzy Sharp and Brooke Holiday formed a crucial partnership, scoring 101 runs off 75 balls to guide the team towards victory.
Izzy Sharp scored 62 runs off 43 balls, including one six and eight fours, before being dismissed. Holiday then partnered with Maddie Green to secure the win, finishing with 41 runs off 38 balls, including three fours. For Scotland, Katherine Bryce and Rachel Slater each took two wickets.
