New Zealand PM Highlights Indias Growing Global Role Under Modis Leadership

Auckland, July 11: New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasized India’s rising global stature on Saturday. He stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies, a significant geopolitical force, and a vital partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

Speaking at a lavish lunch held in honor of PM Modi, Luxon remarked, “Everyone here understands what it takes to build a strong partnership, and they need trust. Commitment, reliability, follow-through, and shared values are essential. This is true whether in business or diplomacy.”

He further noted, “Under your leadership, Prime Minister Modi, India has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. India is a key player in the current geopolitical landscape and a partner in the Indo-Pacific, known for its scale, innovation, ambition, and strategic influence.”

PM Luxon described New Zealand as an open, reliable, innovative, and globally connected nation. He highlighted the country’s expertise in food production, education, technology, tourism, and sustainability, emphasizing its strong record of practical cooperation and reliable partnerships.

“We can work together to create jobs, boost trade, attract investment, and create new opportunities in both India and New Zealand, all aimed at enhancing the prosperity and security of our people,” he stated.

India and New Zealand have agreed to elevate their relationship to a strategic partnership. Luxon called this a significant step, providing a strong foundation for increased cooperation in various sectors amid a rapidly uncertain global environment.

In a world that is becoming increasingly unstable and uncertain, Luxon stressed that strong partnerships are more crucial than ever. “This provides a robust platform for practical cooperation in prosperity, security, and relationships among people,” he said.

He added, “This will deepen our ties in trade, investment, education, technology, sports, and tourism. It will also foster closer collaboration in defense, maritime security, and law enforcement. Most importantly, it means creating a relationship that benefits both countries and yields tangible results.”

Luxon highlighted the vital role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations, noting that the Indian community in New Zealand has been and will continue to be crucial to the nation’s success, remaining central to the relationship between the two countries.

He emphasized, “Their impact is felt across New Zealand in business, education, health, technology, culture, sports, and community life. Through their energy, businesses, and strong family ties, Kiwi Indians help New Zealand understand India and vice versa. This is evident every day among families, students, visitors, entrepreneurs, and athletes who bring our countries closer together. It lays the foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”

Thanking PM Modi for his leadership and personal commitment to advancing bilateral relations, Luxon concluded, “Today, we can confidently say that New Zealand and India are winning partners. I look forward to working with you, my friend, and everyone in this room to further strengthen this partnership in the coming years.”
