New Zealand Aims to Dismiss Kohli and Rohit Early in ODI Series

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner emphasizes the need to dismiss Indias star batsmen early in the upcoming ODI series.

Auckland, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : New Zealand will face a significant challenge as they prepare for a five-match ODI series against India, starting Wednesday. The team’s captain, Mitchell Santner, identified the early wickets of star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as crucial to their success.

In a press conference, Santner stated, “We will try to contain them right from the start in every match. We have observed India’s top order for a long time. Rohit and Kohli play aggressively at the top, build a solid score in the middle, and then accelerate towards the end.”

Santner expressed hope that the pitch conditions would assist their fast bowlers in tackling the Indian duo. He also noted that the presence of Kohli and Rohit would draw large crowds to the stadium, highlighting their impact on the game.

Despite nearing the end of their careers, Santner praised Rohit and Kohli for their outstanding performances. “We know how good they are. Even with age, they continue to excel. We’ve seen this against the West Indies, and I’ve followed Rohit in the IPL as well. As a bowling group, we have discussed how to approach their lineup and how to perform on New Zealand pitches. We understand how it behaves when conditions are favorable and what it looks like when it’s flat,” he added.

This series may mark the last tour of New Zealand for both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, generating excitement among cricket fans worldwide, particularly in New Zealand.
