New Tranche of Annapurna Scheme Launched on PM Modis Birthday, Boosting Womens Confidence

Kolkata, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 76th birthday by launching a new tranche of the Annapurna Scheme through a video conference in Kolkata on September 17. During the event, he emphasized that this scheme empowers women in West Bengal. He extended his congratulations and best wishes to all women benefiting from the initiative.

Modi highlighted the significant responsibilities that mothers and sisters carry in their households. He noted that when financial worries are alleviated, women’s confidence grows. “The Annapurna Scheme is a crucial effort to strengthen the confidence of women in Bengal,” he stated.

The Prime Minister announced that a fixed amount would be deposited monthly into the bank accounts of women in West Bengal without them needing to ask anyone for it. This financial support serves as a substantial boost for them.

“Today, approximately 1.5 crore women will receive the fourth installment of the Annapurna Scheme, amounting to ₹3,000 each month. This can cover a mother’s educational expenses for her child or provide support for a sister’s medical needs or essential household purchases. Our vision is for women in Bengal to have both the power to make decisions and the courage to advance,” he explained.

Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible woman is excluded from the benefits of the Annapurna Scheme. He mentioned that the initiative was launched shortly after the government took office, allowing many women to receive financial assistance directly into their bank accounts without any intermediaries or corruption.

He emphasized that addressing issues related to the lives of mothers, sisters, and daughters has been a priority for the BJP government. Modi described various initiatives aimed at improving women’s lives, such as the Maternity Benefit Scheme, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, and the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, which provides interest for girls’ education.

According to reports, the West Bengal government has transferred ₹3,000 in financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible women’s bank accounts as part of the Annapurna Scheme, coinciding with Modi’s birthday. Women aged between 25 and 60 who are permanent residents of West Bengal benefit from this monthly support.
