New Indian Consular Application Centre Opens in Seattle

Washington: India has inaugurated a new Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) in Seattle, USA, aiming to improve access to consular services for the Indian community residing in the Pacific Northwest region.

According to an official release from a US Congressman, the centre is located at 1015 Second Avenue, Suite 804, Seattle, WA 98104, sharing the same premises as the Indian Consulate in Seattle.

Officials explained that this initiative intends to make consular services more accessible for Indian nationals and other applicants in the area. The launch event was attended by government and non-government dignitaries, along with more than 300 members of the Indian-American community from Seattle and nearby states.

The new centre will provide multiple services under one roof, including Indian visa applications, passports, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), renunciation of Indian citizenship, police clearance certificates, Global Entry Program (GEP) applications, as well as miscellaneous and attestation services.

The Indian Consulate in Seattle stated that co-locating the ICAC with the consulate in the Federal Reserve Building is expected to enhance operational efficiency and offer applicants a convenient one-stop facility for submitting applications and resolving queries.

VFS Global, which provides consular services for India in the USA, highlighted that the new centre is part of a broader effort to simplify the application process and improve service delivery. Under the expanded network, the centre will now operate on Saturdays, include return courier services within the standard fee, and offer photo, photocopy, and form-filling assistance free of extra charges.

The company added that the Seattle centre is equipped with modern infrastructure designed to provide a secure and efficient application experience focused on customer convenience.

At the launch, Amit Kumar Sharma, Head of North America and the Caribbean at VFS Global, said, “Seattle and the greater Pacific Northwest region are home to a vibrant and growing Indian community. The launch of this ICAC reflects the Indian Government’s vision to make consular services more accessible and citizen-centric.”

Currently, there are 17 Indian Consular Application Centres operational across the United States. As of November 2025, over 363,000 visa applications have been processed nationwide, and since August 2025, nearly 10,000 other consular applications have been completed.
