New Bypass Project Approved for Bhagalpur, MP Nishikant Dubey Thanks PM Modi and Rail Minister

New Delhi, March 26: The Ministry of Railways has approved a new rail bypass project in Bhagalpur. This initiative aims to enhance rail connectivity, reduce congestion at stations, and streamline train operations. Nishikant Dubey, the BJP MP from Godda, Jharkhand, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this decision.

Dubey stated that he has long advocated for a bypass similar to those in Jasidih, Madhupur, and Hansdiha, and is pleased that this demand has now been met. He specifically thanked Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for his diligent efforts.

In a post on his social media account, Dubey wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a significant gift to the people of Bhagalpur. Given the passenger congestion at Bhagalpur Railway Station, the Government of India will construct a bypass from Sabour Railway Station to the religious site of Gonudham. I have been consistently urging Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this bypass, and it is now a reality. My heartfelt thanks to the hardworking Rail Minister.”

Regarding the project, the bypass will span approximately 13.38 kilometers, with an estimated cost of around ₹303.20 crores. This line will connect the Gonudham halt on the Barahat-Bhagalpur section to the Sabour station on the Bhagalpur-Sahibganj section. The primary benefit of this project will be a significant reduction in train congestion at Bhagalpur Junction.

Currently, the Barahat-Bhagalpur rail section operates at over 125% capacity, leading to severe overcrowding. Additionally, trains passing through this route often need to change engines at Bhagalpur Station, causing delays and operational challenges. The new bypass will allow trains to travel directly without stopping, saving time and providing relief to passengers.
