Investigative agencies have uncovered links to Kerala following initial findings from Rajasthan. Preparations are underway to raise this issue in the parliamentary committee. Meanwhile, angry students protested outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday, demanding transparency in the examination process.
The NEET exam, crucial for admissions into medical courses like MBBS, has been canceled. This examination took place on May 3. The NTA received information regarding alleged irregularities late on May 7, just four days after the exam. The agency forwarded this information to central agencies for an independent investigation and necessary action on the morning of May 8. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now looking into the matter.
Reports indicate that a leaked guess paper from before the NEET-UG 2026 exam reached a student in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, who is currently studying MBBS in Kerala. It is alleged that this student shared the guess paper with friends and a hostel operator. The investigation has revealed that several questions from the guess paper closely resembled those asked in the actual exam.
Authorities are currently investigating how the student obtained this material and whether an organized network was involved. Digital devices and chat records are being scrutinized, and some suspects are being interrogated.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Jiya Ur Rahman Bark has described the NEET-UG paper leak as a serious issue, raising significant concerns about the country’s examination system. He accused the government of failing to address ongoing irregularities in competitive exams.
Bark stated that he would bring this matter to the parliamentary education committee and demand strict action against those responsible. He emphasized that millions of students work hard for years, and incidents like paper leaks undermine their efforts and future.
Opposition parties have intensified calls for reform in the examination system, accountability, and an independent investigation into the NTA’s operations. In the meantime, student organizations and candidates in Delhi staged a vigorous protest outside the NTA headquarters against the alleged irregularities and paper leak in NEET-UG 2026. Protesters demanded the protection of students’ interests, claiming that the recurring irregularities have eroded their trust in the examination system.
