New Delhi, August 13: The monsoon session of Parliament has been indefinitely adjourned amid chaos. Union Minister Giriraj Singh sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the arrogance of one leader has turned the entire session into a farce, wasting millions of taxpayer rupees.
Singh condemned the opposition’s protests, stating that a “stubborn” and “peculiar” leader has made a mockery of the month. He questioned whether Rahul Gandhi has a team of monkeys, referencing the inclusion of monkeys in the opposition’s demonstrations, and asked if they plan to perform tricks on the streets.
Describing the situation as shameful, Singh urged Congress to bow their heads in embarrassment. He asserted that the stubbornness of Rahul Gandhi is preventing Parliament from functioning, resulting in significant financial waste for the nation.
Singh also responded to the alleged “purification” ritual conducted after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally at Ramleela Maidan in Haldwani. He acknowledged Kharge as a senior and respected leader but suggested that the accusations should be viewed from another perspective. If the ground was dirty and cleaned, it should be considered in that context, attempting to provide a different viewpoint on the discrimination allegations made by Congress.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan targeted the opposition for disrupting the House proceedings. He remarked that the opposition has gradually made it a tradition to prevent the House from functioning. According to him, the opposition believes that if the House does not run, it signifies their victory. Paswan emphasized that such thinking is detrimental to democracy, accusing opposition MPs of becoming pleased with obstructing the House and losing the habit of working within Parliament.
BJP MP Arun Govil accused the opposition of wasting the entire session. He stated that the opposition has rendered the proceedings futile, and the language used during protests has crossed the boundaries of civility. Govil insisted that the opposition must respect the dignity of Parliament, asserting that the public will understand the type of politics practiced by those who behave in such a manner.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar responded to Rahul Gandhi’s statements, stating that the Lok Sabha is a platform for discussion and should involve listening to both sides. He clarified that if the House operates without discussion and mutual listening, it loses its significance. Khattar emphasized that the Lok Sabha cannot function according to the whims of a single individual; it is a platform for the entire nation, where all parties should have the opportunity to express their views.
