Patna, April 18: The political turmoil intensified after the rejection of the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. Leaders from the NDA and the opposition are engaged in a fierce blame game. In Bihar, NDA leaders have labeled the opposition as anti-women, accusing them of celebrating the bill’s failure.
Sanjay Sarawagi, the state president of the Bihar BJP, expressed his views to a news agency, stating, “Congress members, RJD, SP, and leaders like Stalin are distributing sweets and celebrating. They will soon realize how costly this joy will be for them. Wherever they go, protests will follow. This significant reservation bill was something the Prime Minister wanted to pass. They will come to understand this in due time. Women in India are no longer just flowers; they are sparks. They are awake now. The opposition will face their resistance at every step.”
Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about PM Modi, Sarawagi added, “His entire family still seems unable to detach from their affection for Italy. This matter is still in court, and the court has directed the filing of an FIR. Rahul Gandhi’s language has been deemed disrespectful and insulting to the nation.”
Minister Ramkripal Yadav from the Bihar government remarked on the Women’s Reservation Bill, stating, “When the women’s bill was introduced in 2023, everyone supported it, including Congress. Now, as we approach the implementation of women’s reservation, those who once supported it are opposing it. Congress is primarily responsible for this. Denying women’s rights will cost Congress and its allies dearly.”
Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, a leader from JDU, commented on the rejection of the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, saying, “After the bill’s failure, women across the country feel cheated. When this bill could not be passed, women were left stunned and speechless. Once again, the anti-women stance of Congress, TMC, DMK, and other parties in the ‘Indi’ alliance has become evident.”
He added that Congress has not made any substantial efforts for women. This was their chance to rectify their mistakes, but they have squandered it once more. It is also clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that everyone should come together to pass this bill. A two-thirds majority is required for constitutional amendments, making the opposition’s cooperation crucial in this scenario.
