NCRTC Celebrates Namo Bharat Day 2026 Marking Three Years of Service

NCRTC commemorates Namo Bharat Day 2026, highlighting achievements and future plans for regional connectivity.

New Delhi, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) recently celebrated ‘Namo Bharat Day 2026,’ marking three successful years of the Namo Bharat initiative. This event symbolizes a transformative journey in regional mobility. Dignitaries present included Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, and NCRTC Chairperson D. Thara, alongside other senior officials.

During the event, NCRTC highlighted significant milestones achieved over the past three years. These include initiatives aimed at enhancing multi-modal connectivity, improving passenger experiences through first and last-mile connectivity, and promoting environmental and financial sustainability, such as the development of a solar power plant with a capacity of 110 megawatts. A film showcasing the journey of Namo Bharat was also presented, illustrating the efforts and innovations that have shaped the project.

In his address, Union Minister Manohar Lal emphasized that “Namo Bharat” is more than just a name; it represents a commitment to prioritizing the nation alongside dedication to cultural and traditional values. He noted that the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is ushering in a new era of regional connectivity and redefining urban transport. Since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20, 2023, the 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor has recorded over 4.5 million trips, reflecting growing public trust in modern, safe, and efficient transportation.

He further stated, “I believe that an improved transportation system not only reduces distances between cities but also connects people to new opportunities, accelerating regional development and economic progress.” He praised NCRTC officials, engineers, and staff for their dedication to realizing this ambitious project.

The Namo Bharat service commenced in October 2023 with the opening of a 17-kilometer priority section between Sahibabad and the Duhai depot. The entire corridor has since been gradually operationalized. On February 22, 2026, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the complete 82-kilometer Namo Bharat corridor to the nation. Currently, Namo Bharat serves over 110,000 passengers daily and recently achieved a record of approximately 168,000 passengers in a single day. With its fast, regular, and reliable services, Namo Bharat facilitates more efficient travel, providing easier access to workplaces, educational institutions, and economic centers.

Plans are underway for two additional priority corridors, Delhi-Panipat-Karnal and Delhi-Gurugram-Behror, which are expected to receive approval soon. Two other corridors, Ghaziabad-Jewar and Noida-Faridabad-Gurgaon, are also in the DPR phase.

Recognition was given to individuals contributing to this transformation. NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goyal stated that NCRTC was established to develop a modern, safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly regional transport system. Reflecting on past achievements, he expressed pride in turning this vision into reality. He also acknowledged the families of team members for their unwavering support throughout challenges.

The event included the annual NCRTC awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding employees for their dedication and contributions to the successful implementation and operation of Namo Bharat. This celebration not only honored individual achievements but also the collective spirit and teamwork that drive NCRTC’s progress. Cultural performances added vibrancy and energy to the program.

The journey of Namo Bharat exemplifies the power of modern public transport in bringing people closer to opportunities while contributing to a more integrated, accessible, and sustainable region. With a focus on passenger needs, NCRTC remains committed to promoting safe, comfortable, reliable, and efficient transportation while advancing the achievements of Namo Bharat for the community.
