New Delhi, June 4: The central government is making significant strides towards fully digitizing all state assemblies and councils through the National E-Vidhan Application (NEVA). In this context, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, along with Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law and Justice, has issued messages regarding the third national conference of NEVA organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed his delight at the Ministry’s efforts to transition the operations of all legislative bodies to a digital platform through the NEVA initiative. He highlighted that NEVA is a mission-mode project of the Government of India aimed at making the functioning of all assemblies and councils paperless, transparent, and more efficient.
Rijiju noted that NEVA has emerged as a transformative digital platform, enhancing the accountability, efficiency, and accessibility of legislative functions for citizens. He shared that so far, 28 states and union territories have signed MOUs to join NEVA, with 20 legislative bodies fully operational on this platform.
He urged the remaining states and union territories to join the platform as soon as possible, emphasizing that this is a crucial step towards realizing the vision of “One Nation, One Application.” Rijiju expressed hope that the conference would facilitate the sharing of experiences, challenges, and best practices among states and nodal departments, further strengthening the rapid expansion of NEVA across the country.
Meanwhile, Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that the conference organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is a significant opportunity to review the progress of the NEVA project and expedite its implementation. He remarked that this initiative represents a major step towards strengthening parliamentary democracy through technology.
Meghwal added that NEVA is modernizing legislative bodies, making their operations more transparent, accountable, effective, and environmentally friendly. Through this platform, all legislative bodies in the country will come together on a shared digital interface, making their operations more accessible to citizens.
He expressed confidence that discussions and presentations during the conference would foster better coordination among states and union territories, facilitating the rapid adoption of the NEVA platform nationwide. He also wished all participants a successful and fruitful conference.
