India Advises Caution for Citizens in Saudi Arabia Amid Ongoing Tensions

India has issued a safety advisory for its citizens in Saudi Arabia due to ongoing tensions, urging caution and avoiding sharing sensitive information.

Riyadh, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian government has issued a safety advisory for its citizens residing in Saudi Arabia, urging them to exercise caution in light of the current situation. On Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh recommended that individuals seek the nearest safe location in case of airstrikes and avoid recording, publishing, or sharing any information, photos, or videos related to ongoing events.

In a post on social media platform X, the embassy stated, “The Indian community in Saudi Arabia is advised to take appropriate precautions under the current circumstances. In the event of airstrikes, immediately move to the nearest safe location and refrain from filming, publishing, or sharing any information, photos, or videos related to the ongoing events.”

Embassy officials are actively visiting hospitals treating Indian nationals and remain in constant contact with their families, providing necessary assistance. They also reported that flight operations have been suspended at Riyadh’s international airport, while airports in Dammam, Jeddah, and Medina remain operational, albeit with some disruptions.

Furthermore, Indian airlines have suspended flights to and from Saudi Arabia. The embassy provided information on available flight options for those wishing to travel to India. “Indian airlines have extended the suspension of flights to and from Saudi Arabia: Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo—on all routes until October 24. Akasa Air—on all routes until October 27,” the embassy noted.

For those needing to depart immediately, the embassy suggested considering transit through Bahrain, Kuwait, or Qatar, provided they can obtain the necessary visas. Indian citizens planning to travel to Saudi Arabia, including those intending to perform Umrah, are advised to be aware of ongoing disruptions at Saudi airports and the possibility of flight cancellations.

India has reiterated its condemnation of attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, deeming them unacceptable and expressing solidarity with the kingdom in defending its sovereignty.
