New Perspectives on LGBT Rights in Special Book Commemorating RSSs Centenary

A special book on the RSSs centenary presents a fresh perspective on LGBT rights, emphasizing dialogue and collaboration, says activist Ankit Guptani.

Lucknow, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : A new book celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) offers an inclusive perspective on LGBT rights. Activist Ankit Guptani contributed an article advocating for dialogue and cooperation among LGBT groups.

Guptani expressed his excitement about being part of this historic publication. He highlighted two main points in his article. He noted that LGBT activists and human rights groups often view the RSS and non-leftist entities as adversaries, typically opting for confrontation. In contrast, he promotes collaboration and inclusivity. Guptani has long advocated for dialogue with organizations from the RSS and similar backgrounds.

He emphasized the need for decolonization in the context of human rights. “As our country strives for a ‘developed India,’ we must recognize the necessity of decolonization,” he stated. Guptani clarified that discussions on LGBT rights should not be seen as an endorsement of Western culture.

Referencing India’s rich historical traditions, he pointed out that LGBT rights are not a Western concept. Conversations about these rights have been ongoing for centuries in India, with various individuals expressing their identities throughout history. Guptani believes it is vital for society to remember this legacy, and he feels the RSS understands this perspective. The goal of his article is to foster a shared understanding among all.

He also called on youth from diverse ideologies to collaborate towards the vision of a ‘developed India by 2047.’ “Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a ‘developed India’ is not just for him, but for the entire nation,” he remarked. “This is a collective dream, and we all must contribute to this great cause, regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs.”
