Nana Patole Criticizes Operation Tiger as a Threat to Democracy

Mumbai, June 24: The political landscape in Maharashtra is currently dominated by the controversial inclusion of six rebel MPs from Uddhav Thackeray’s faction into Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. This widely discussed initiative, dubbed ‘Operation Tiger,’ has drawn sharp criticism from Congress leader Nana Patole, who accuses the BJP and its allies of undermining democratic institutions.

Patole stated that such political maneuvers pose a significant threat to democracy, asserting that the public will respond appropriately in due time. In an interview with a news agency, he remarked, “Spend money, buy people, and those who are selling votes will face consequences from the public when the time is right. ‘Operation Tiger’ is a system that is dismantling democracy.” He further alleged that the BJP and its allied parties are systematically weakening democracy across the nation, attempting to manipulate mandates and democratic values for political gain.

Previously, while commenting on ‘Operation Tiger,’ Patole noted, “Everyone talks about development, but it seems only their own development is happening. I don’t believe I have anything more to say on this issue.”

Additionally, Patole addressed the current political climate in Maharashtra and potential rifts within the Mahayuti government. He indicated that a power struggle is ongoing, highlighting that Eknath Shinde still believes he should have been the Chief Minister, which has caused him distress given that the elections were held under his leadership.

In response, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared the operation a success. Speaking to the media, he stated, “I have said everything in the press conference. ‘Operation Tiger’ has been successful.”
