Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing Meets Indias National Security Advisor Ajit Doval

New Delhi, May 31: Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing met with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The Ministry of External Affairs shared photos from the meeting.

President Hlaing is on a five-day visit to India, which began in Bodh Gaya, home to the Mahabodhi Temple. After his time in Bodh Gaya, he arrived in New Delhi, where he also met with India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. On June 1, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. Additionally, President Hlaing will visit Mumbai during his trip.

Following the meeting with President Hlaing, Foreign Minister Jaishankar expressed his pleasure on social media platform X, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing in New Delhi today. I appreciate his positive sentiment towards deepening our long-standing cooperation.”

He added, “I look forward to his meeting with PM Narendra Modi to advance our partnership for peace, progress, and prosperity.”

President Hlaing arrived in New Delhi from Bodh Gaya, where he was welcomed at the airport by Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh.

The Ministry of External Affairs posted on X, “President U Min Aung Hlaing was warmly welcomed upon his arrival in New Delhi from Bodh Gaya. Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh greeted him. This visit provides an opportunity to further strengthen our bilateral partnership.”

Kirti Vardhan Singh expressed pride in welcoming President Hlaing to Delhi, stating that his visit reflects the enduring civilizational, cultural, and people-to-people ties between India and Myanmar. He noted that this visit also offers a chance to enhance cooperation in various sectors and advance their shared vision for peace, prosperity, and connectivity in the region.
