New Delhi, March 15: In a bid to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and promote the initiative “TB Free India – TB will lose, the country will win,” a cricket match was held in New Delhi between Members of Parliament (MPs) and police officials. BJP MP Anurag Thakur expressed gratitude to all participants, stating, “We are playing this TB-free cricket match to spread awareness.”
He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to a TB-free India is crucial, as the disease claims millions of lives. “We are working to raise awareness. This is not something to hide; it can be treated. Today, all MPs and police officials have gathered here. It doesn’t matter who wins or loses. TB will lose, and the country will win.”
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari spoke about the importance of the match, saying, “We are playing against TB. A campaign is underway in the country, and we have made significant progress to ensure no one loses their life to TB. There are many treatments and precautions available, and we are raising awareness through this cricket match. One team will consist of MPs, while the other will be the Delhi Police, and we are set to play an exhibition match.”
Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of BCCI and Congress MP, noted, “The Constitution Club of India has maintained the tradition of organizing matches among MPs. Such matches were held during the time of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Today’s match is between MPs and the police and is also aimed at raising awareness for a TB-free India.”
