Motorola Unveils Pre-order Details for the New Moto Razr Fold

Shanghai, April 5: Motorola is making its entry into the book-style foldable market with the new Moto Razr Fold. Retail listings in China indicate that pre-orders will commence on May 31.

Interestingly, customers in the UK will have earlier access. Motorola UK announced on X on March 27 that pre-orders would open in just 15 days, signaling that the wait is almost over. The phone was initially showcased at MWC earlier this year, but it is now becoming more available to consumers.

The Razr Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, coupled with 16GB of RAM, providing ample performance for multitasking. It features a robust 6,000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with reverse charging capabilities.

Additionally, the device supports the Moto Pen Ultra, indicating Motorola’s intention for this phone to serve as a productivity tool, not just for media consumption.

The display configuration is standard for foldables, yet it includes some intriguing features. Inside, it boasts an 8.09-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The external 6.56-inch display reaches up to 165Hz, which is somewhat uncommon for foldable devices, though its practical impact remains to be seen.

In terms of dimensions, the phone measures approximately 9.9mm when folded and 4.6mm when unfolded, weighing around 244 grams. This makes it slightly heavier than competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold7 (215g) and the Honor Magic V6 (219g).

The camera system comprises three 50MP sensors on the rear: a main, ultra-wide, and a 3x telephoto lens. For selfies, it features a 32MP camera on the outer display and a 20MP camera on the inside.

The pricing is set at €1,999, positioning it alongside other premium foldables. While this is expected, it raises questions about its overall value.

There are still some uncertainties, particularly regarding availability in various regions, but as pre-orders approach, more details are likely to emerge soon.
