New Delhi, June 3: In a significant step towards enhancing the traditional friendship and cooperation between India and Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ravi Lamichhane, the President of Nepal’s National Freedom Party. During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of shared prosperity, development, and regional cooperation.
The information was shared through an official post by the Prime Minister.
In the post, Modi expressed his pleasure in meeting Lamichhane, stating, “I am fully supportive of the desire to build a shared and prosperous future together. For India, Nepal is a crucial and primary partner under its ‘Neighborhood First Policy’.”
PM Modi expressed confidence that collaboration with Nepal’s new government could elevate the special and multifaceted relations between the two countries to new heights. He emphasized the long-standing historical, cultural, religious, and economic ties that have strengthened over time and the need to further empower them.
The cooperation between India and Nepal extends beyond political realms, encompassing trade, energy, connectivity, education, tourism, and interpersonal exchanges.
Under India’s ‘Neighborhood First’ policy, close cooperation with Nepal can further broaden and strengthen bilateral relations in the future.
On Tuesday, Lamichhane also met with BJP President Nitin Nabin, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, and Home Minister Amit Shah. Lamichhane described these meetings as highly significant and beneficial on his social media post.
The discussions included topics such as Nepal-India relations, mutual interests, democratic practices, security cooperation, and dialogue and collaboration between political parties of both nations. Lamichhane and his team are scheduled to return to their homeland on June 5.
