Chennai, February 23: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted moderate rainfall in parts of the Western Ghats over the next two days, while most other areas in Tamil Nadu are expected to remain dry.
In a statement, the weather department noted that light to moderate rain is likely in one or two locations in the Western Ghats districts on Monday and Tuesday.
Rainfall activity is expected to be limited to isolated areas in the hilly and surrounding regions, with no forecast for widespread rain.
Meanwhile, dry weather is anticipated across the rest of Tamil Nadu, as well as in the Union Territory of Puducherry and its Karaikal region.
Weather officials reported that there is currently no significant weather system affecting large parts of the state, resulting in stable atmospheric conditions.
Looking ahead, the department has forecast moderate rainfall in southern Tamil Nadu on February 26.
However, detailed information regarding the intensity and spread of the rain has not yet been provided. Officials indicated that the rain is likely to be confined to select districts in the southern region.
Regarding temperatures, no major fluctuations are expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the coming days. However, a slight increase in maximum temperatures cannot be ruled out. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around seasonal averages.
In Chennai, the sky is likely to be partly cloudy throughout the day. The weather department has also indicated a possibility of light fog in one or two areas during the early morning hours.
The maximum temperature in the city is expected to range between 33 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Weather department officials have advised residents of the Western Ghats districts, especially in hilly areas, to stay alert for the possibility of light rain. They also reassured that no major weather disruptions are expected across the state at this time.
