Betul, March 15: A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on the Betul-Sarni State Highway, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old youth. His friend is in critical condition at the hospital, fighting for his life.
The accident took place late Saturday night when a speeding unidentified truck collided with the motorcycle. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police are actively searching for the driver.
The victim has been identified as Shanni from Shobhpur village. He was riding with his friend Prakash when the accident happened around midnight while they were traveling between Bagdona and Salaiya, areas under the jurisdiction of the Sarni police station.
According to police reports, the truck approached from behind at high speed and struck the motorcycle with great force. The impact was so severe that both young men were thrown onto the road, sustaining serious injuries.
Authorities stated that Shanni died at the scene or shortly after due to his injuries. Prakash suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the district hospital in Betul, where he remains in critical condition under intensive care. It is alleged that the truck driver did not stop to assist the injured or notify authorities before fleeing the scene.
Local residents who arrived shortly after the accident alerted the authorities and assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital.
