Mitchell Starc Breaks Silence on Late IPL 2026 Entry, Responds to Critics

New Delhi, March 28: Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has finally addressed the growing speculation and criticism regarding his late entry into IPL 2026. Starc has taken a firm stand against his detractors.

Currently sidelined due to shoulder and elbow injuries, Starc explained that he only realized the severity of his condition after the Australian season. His absence from the team’s early matches has led to rampant rumors and questions about his commitment to participating in the IPL.

Expressing his disappointment over the misinformation regarding his fitness and availability, Starc shared on Instagram, “I am currently treating my shoulder and elbow injuries and trying to recover. I didn’t fully understand the seriousness of my injuries during the Australian summer. Some people have made very harsh statements regarding my participation in the IPL, presenting completely inaccurate opinions about players as facts, even claiming they know my body better than I do.”

He added, “While I acknowledge that this injury and its timing are troublesome for the Delhi team, I apologize for that. I also want to apologize to the fans, as I will not be available for the early matches of this season. I am fully committed to joining the Delhi team. I am in constant contact with the team and keep them updated about my situation. I will do everything I can to be available for Delhi as soon as possible.”

On Friday, a fan criticized Starc’s absence on social media, stating, “It’s very unfair for Delhi Capitals fans that Hazlewood and Cummins will be available for their teams despite being injured, but you (Starc) won’t.” In response, Starc’s wife, former Australian women’s team player Alyssa Healy, commented, “Maybe because he’s injured, mate. If he were fully fit, he would be there.”
