Srinagar, March 25: A significant donation campaign in support of Iran has been initiated in Srinagar and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Recently, a large number of people in Budgam contributed according to their capacity.
In a conversation, Shia cleric Dr. Aga Syed Mudasir Rizvi praised the sentiments of the people, describing it as a reflection of inherent human values like sacrifice and selflessness.
He stated, “First and foremost, I salute this great spirit. It is human nature, which inherently possesses the feelings of sacrifice and selflessness. What we are witnessing today, especially in the current circumstances, is a testament to that truth.”
Rizvi emphasized that when one sees a community standing firm for truth, enduring hardships, and supporting suffering individuals, it inspires others to help, regardless of how small their contribution may be. He noted that people from all religions have participated in this campaign.
He mentioned that as much as they reached out to their friends, those friends also contacted them expressing a desire to contribute. Without any religious discrimination, Shia, Sunni, and even non-Muslims have directly participated in this initiative.
Rizvi explained that donations have come in various forms, including cash, gold, vehicles, utensils, and other essential items. “What you see around you—utensils, cars, money, gold—these have all been donated by people,” he said. He also revealed that many individuals have deposited substantial amounts directly at the embassy on a professional level. Therefore, he is not surprised by these figures, as the total amount is likely even higher.
