
Indore, May 10: The ‘Mango Jatra’ held during the Malwa Festival in Indore showcased a vibrant celebration of taste, tradition, and farmer empowerment. The event attracted a large number of citizens eager to sample the famous ‘Hapus’ mangoes from Devgarh and Ratnagiri.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who attended the three-day fair organized by a Marathi social group at the Rural Haat Market, described the event as a symbol of national unity and farmer welfare. He announced a financial grant of five lakh rupees to support the Lok Sanskriti Manch.
Traditional dancers welcomed the Chief Minister, while stalls displaying handicrafts, artworks, and regional cuisines enhanced the festival’s appeal.
The Chief Minister engaged with mango producers, inspected the stalls, and praised their dedication to bringing the country’s most prestigious mangoes to the heart of Malwa. He emphasized that such fairs connect farmers directly with consumers, ensuring fair prices and fresh produce. He also announced an incentive of 11,000 rupees for each of the 24 mango producers and appreciated their long-standing participation in the festival.
Yadav noted that the ‘Mango Jatra,’ adorned with stalls of delicious mango-based dishes, handicrafts, and khadi products, has evolved into a unique market where culture, commerce, and community converge. This enhances Indore’s identity as a city rich in diversity and traditions.
In the 25th anniversary edition of this event organized by the Lok Sanskriti Manch, the Chief Minister praised artists from across India who united the country’s cultural diversity through their performances.
He described the atmosphere created by folk dances like Bhangra, Garba, and Badhai as so enchanting that it felt as if heaven had descended to earth. He remarked that the arrival of these prestigious mangoes in the city of ‘Maa Ahilya’ symbolizes national unity.
The Mango Jatra drew large crowds eager to taste delicious mango-based delicacies such as ice cream, shakes, chutneys, and jams. Additionally, stalls featuring khadi garments and handmade products were present. Several prominent leaders attended the event, including former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, along with other legislators, MPs, and senior officials.
