Kolkata, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : A man has been arrested in Kolkata, West Bengal, for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter. The arrest occurred on Saturday in the South 24 Parganas district.
According to police reports, the elder daughter filed a complaint with the Baruipur police. She claimed that she had left home due to the sexual abuse inflicted by her father and alleged that he was also abusing her younger sister. Based on this complaint, officers from the Baruipur Women’s Police Station apprehended the accused.
The arrested individual is reported to be a street vendor. Allegations state that he sexually abused his elder daughter last December, prompting her to flee out of fear and anger. The younger daughter also reported that despite informing their mother about the father’s behavior, no action was taken, and their mother remained silent.
The elder daughter alleged that the abuse continued even after she left home. She stated that it had been happening for several months and that she felt unable to speak out. Eventually, she contacted her sister, and both girls informed their mother, who still refused to acknowledge the accusations.
In a decisive move, the elder daughter called the police emergency number, leading to the father’s arrest on Friday night in the Kulpi Road area. A case has been registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Authorities are seeking custody of the accused for further investigation.
A senior officer from the Baruipur police stated, “The father was arrested based on the daughter’s complaint. We will seek custody for further questioning. The investigation is ongoing, and all allegations are being thoroughly examined.”
