Patna, July 15: Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi has accused the West Bengal government of engaging in vote bank politics following its decision to withdraw reservations for certain Muslim communities.
In an interview, Sarawagi claimed that Mamata Banerjee would go to any lengths for the sake of her political interests. He alleged that the previous West Bengal government had granted reservations to various Muslim communities as part of its political strategy. He further accused Banerjee of providing protection to Rohingyas, Bangladeshis, and infiltrators to gain electoral advantages.
On a different note, Sarawagi praised the state government for the commencement of classes in 211 new degree colleges in Bihar. He noted that this initiative marks the first time degree colleges are being established simultaneously in all blocks of the state that previously lacked higher education institutions.
He mentioned that Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is inaugurating this initiative, which will reduce the burden on students who previously had to travel long distances for higher education.
Sarawagi also criticized the Congress leadership in light of the ongoing internal strife within the Punjab Congress. He targeted Rahul Gandhi, stating that there is a visible lack of leadership within the party. He pointed out that the Congress’s position in Punjab is weak and that the Aam Aadmi Party’s government is also facing challenges. He described Congress’s politics as driven by self-interest.
Commenting on the politics of Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray, the BJP state president remarked that the current Shiv Sena is no longer the party envisioned by Balasaheb Thackeray. He stated that Balasaheb Thackeray was a proponent of Hindutva and opposed any ties with Congress. He believes that Uddhav Thackeray’s party has lost its original identity by allying with Congress.
Additionally, Sarawagi spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy and international relations, asserting that India is making rapid progress in various sectors. He mentioned that initiatives like free trade agreements will boost commerce and benefit the general populace, attributing this to the achievements of the central government’s policies.
