
Patna, August 19: The Bihar Home Department has announced a significant administrative reshuffle within the state police department, involving the transfer and posting of 11 Bihar Police Service (BPS) officers.
This notification was issued on August 18, 2026, and the new postings are effective immediately, remaining in place until further notice.
The reshuffle includes several key units such as the Special Branch, Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Economic Offenses Unit (EOU), and Special Vigilance Unit (SVU).
Notable changes include Mohammad Shibli Nomani, previously the ASP in the Special Branch in Patna, who has been appointed as SP (B) in the same branch.
Mukul Kumar Ranjan, formerly the SDPO-1 (Sadar) in Khagaria, has been transferred to the position of SP (Law and Order) at the Bihar Police Headquarters in Patna.
Upendra Kumar Yadav, who served as ASP in the Special Armed Police-1 in Patna, has been assigned as SP (Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau) in Patna.
Chandra Bhushan, previously a DSP in the Special Vigilance Unit, has been appointed as Senior DSP (Special Crimes) in CID, Patna. Additionally, Sudhir Kumar has been placed as Senior DSP (Law and Order Branch) at the Bihar Police Headquarters in Patna.
Changes have also occurred in the EOU. DSP Zakir Hussain and DSP Rajan Prasad Singh, who were previously stationed in the EOU, have been transferred to the Special Vigilance Unit in Patna as DSPs.
Arun Kumar Akela, who was serving as DSP (Rail) in Katihar, has also been assigned to the Special Vigilance Unit in Patna as DSP.
Meanwhile, Sanjeev Kumar, who was working as DSP with the Special Task Force (STF) in Bihar, has been transferred to the Economic Offenses Unit in Patna as DSP.
This order was signed by Bihar Government Under Secretary Ratnesh Kumar and has been implemented immediately. A copy has also been sent to the e-gazette cell for publication in the next issue of the Bihar Gazette.
Earlier in the day, the Bihar Police had transferred 18 IPS officers of DIG, SSP, and SP ranks.
