Major ED Raids in Mohali and Chandigarh Targeting Suntech City Project and Builders

Chandigarh, May 7: A wave of panic swept through Mohali and Chandigarh on Thursday morning as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched extensive raids at multiple locations. This operation involved 12 sites and is linked to a real estate scam. The focus is on the Suntech City project and several builders associated with it.

The investigation includes firms such as ABS Townships Private Limited, Altus Builders, Dheer Constructions, and other affiliated companies. Businessman Ajay Sehgal has also emerged as a key figure in this case. ED teams have begun sifting through documents, files, and financial records at their offices and properties.

According to sources, the case relates to alleged irregularities in the Change of Land Use (CLU) licenses issued by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). It is alleged that some builders bypassed regulations to obtain licenses fraudulently, subsequently raising hundreds of crores from the public under the guise of plots and projects.

Investigative agencies suspect that a large-scale financial fraud has taken place, with projects advancing in violation of government regulations. Consequently, the ED is now focused on tracing the money trail linked to these transactions.

Another name surfacing in this case is Nitin Gohal, who is accused of assisting builders who defaulted on GMADA fees. Reports suggest he played a role in securing administrative and political relief for them.

Sources indicate that Nitin Gohal is also in contact with individuals linked to the Chief Minister’s Office. He is said to be a close associate of Rajbir Guhman, the OSD to the Chief Minister, raising suspicions that he acted as a liaison for the Punjab CMO.
