Patna, March 29: In a significant operation, police in Patna have dismantled a large drug trafficking ring operating from an apartment. Authorities arrested two traffickers with over 21 kilograms of narcotics.
A police officer revealed that they received a tip-off about a substantial drug shipment being handled by traffickers in a flat at the East of Gandhi Setu Hope Royal Green Apartment Society in the Alamganj police precinct.
Acting on this information, Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma formed a team led by the sub-divisional police officer of Patna City 1. The team swiftly surrounded the apartment and conducted a raid on the specified flat.
Upon seeing the police, two individuals attempted to flee but were apprehended. A search of the room yielded 1.681 kilograms of processed brown sugar, cash amounting to ₹215,000, and seven mobile phones.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jitendra Kumar and Nitish Kumar, both residents of Khemni Chak. Following Jitendra Kumar’s lead, police discovered over 19 kilograms of raw materials for producing smack, including stones and powder, in a rented room at a property in Ramkrishnanagar. Two small digital scales were also recovered.
Additionally, police seized weapons, cash, seven bank checks, passbooks, and various narcotic substances along with syringes from the scene. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects. Investigations revealed that this gang sourced raw materials from Uttar Pradesh, processing them in Patna for distribution. They reportedly employed 15-20 young individuals on a salary basis for city supply. The police continue to investigate the entire operation.
