
Noida, February 19: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Gautam Buddh Nagar police achieved a major success. During a two-day special operation, 84 traffickers were arrested. Authorities seized 86 kilograms of cannabis and 470 liters of illegal alcohol.
This operation was conducted under the direction of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh and the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Dr. Rajiv Narayan Mishra. The campaign took place from February 17 to 18, during which extensive checks and raids were carried out.
Officials reported that strict actions were taken under the Narcotics and Excise Acts, resulting in the arrest of a total of 84 suspects. The police’s vigilance, continuous monitoring, rapid collection of intelligence, and effective strategy made this operation possible.
Led by DCP Noida Yamuna Prasad, police teams checked 5,338 individuals. During this process, 30 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 32 suspects. From this zone, 56 kilograms of cannabis and 235.8 liters of illegal alcohol were seized. DCP Central Noida Shakti Mohan Awasthi’s team checked 2,172 individuals, registering 18 cases and arresting 18 suspects, with 18 kilograms of cannabis and 97.2 liters of illegal alcohol confiscated.
DCP Greater Noida Saad Mia Khan’s team conducted checks on 2,773 individuals, resulting in 33 cases registered and 34 suspects arrested. This operation led to the seizure of 12 kilograms of cannabis and 137 liters of illegal alcohol. In total, 10,283 individuals were checked across the entire commissionerate area, resulting in 81 cases registered and 84 suspects arrested.
Police stated that this operation is a crucial step in breaking the backbone of criminals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Gautam Buddh Nagar police have appealed to the public to assist in creating a drug-free society and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or by calling 112. The police reiterated that such actions will continue to achieve the goal of a ‘drug-free society for a secure future.’
