Amritsar, August 16: The rural police in Amritsar have achieved a significant breakthrough near the Ravi River, close to the India-Pakistan border. The Ramdas police station conducted a successful operation, uncovering a stash of narcotics and firearms hidden among reeds.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team launched a search operation in the reed-filled area near the Ravi River. During the search, they discovered three packets wrapped in yellow tape. Upon opening the packets, authorities found 1.3 kilograms of ice drugs and three pistols.
Initial investigations suggest that the drugs and weapons may have been dropped into Indian territory via drone from neighboring Pakistan. This attempt to smuggle narcotics and firearms across the border was thwarted due to the police’s vigilance. However, a thorough investigation is still underway.
The police have registered a case against unidentified individuals at the Ramdas police station. They are currently exploring various leads to identify and apprehend those connected to this shipment.
To combat drug and arms trafficking in border areas, continuous operations are being conducted. Following this seizure, police have increased surveillance in the region to track down other individuals linked to this network.
