Kumaraswamy Opens Doors for Investigation Amid Sting Operation Controversy

H.D. Kumaraswamy invites inquiry into sting operation allegations, asserting his readiness to cooperate with the investigation.

Bengaluru, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, has openly challenged the Karnataka police to investigate him regarding a sting operation linked to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy stated that his doors are always open for inquiries.

He questioned the rationale behind the police summoning him, asserting that he has nothing to hide. Kumaraswamy accused senior police officials and the state government of trying to tarnish his reputation by connecting him to the investigation.

During the conference at the JD(S) headquarters, he expressed skepticism about the investigation’s purpose, asking, “Why would they call me for questioning? What have I done? Is it because I have exposed these matters?” He emphasized that he has no connection to the ongoing investigation, which involves a mobile phone allegedly linked to his residence.

Kumaraswamy clarified that he does not know Ritesh Pandey, a person mentioned in the investigation, stating that many people visit his residence and camp office regularly. “I may have seen him, but I don’t recognize his face,” he said, reiterating his willingness to cooperate with authorities.

He urged police officials, including Director General and Inspector General M.A. Saleem, to conduct the investigation without political pressure. Kumaraswamy claimed that the Chief Minister and Home Minister are attempting to manipulate the investigation to defame him.

Having served as Chief Minister twice, Kumaraswamy asserted that he has never instructed any official to engage in illegal activities. He warned investigators to conduct their work honestly, citing the importance of integrity in their role.

Additionally, he criticized the Bengaluru Police Commissioner for linking his residence to the case, labeling the statement as illegal and a violation of Supreme Court guidelines against leaking information during ongoing investigations. He signaled that he might seek action against officials who disclose investigation details.

Kumaraswamy also responded to Home Minister Priyank Kharge’s claims that investigators have found decisive evidence in the sting operation case. He insisted that Kharge should clarify evidence related to the alleged presence of a former driver at Chief Minister Shivakumar’s residence.

Tensions continue to rise as Kumaraswamy navigates these serious allegations amid accusations of political maneuvering against him.
