Srinagar, May 12: The Srinagar police have taken significant action against drug traffickers as part of the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign,’ seizing assets worth approximately ₹1.2 crore. This operation took place in the Gasu Hazratbal area, where a two-story residential building and the associated land were attached. Authorities state that these assets were acquired through illegal drug trafficking.
The seized property is reportedly owned by Masood Hussain Khan, a resident of Banday Lane Hazratbal, who was currently residing in Gasu Hazratbal. The Srinagar police conducted this operation under the NDPS Act, initiated by the Nigeen police station.
According to police, this action was based on FIRs registered at both the Nigeen and Ganderbal police stations. Investigations were ongoing under various sections of the NDPS Act in both cases. During the inquiry, it was revealed that the accused had acquired this property using illegal funds linked to drug trafficking.
Following the attachment order issued by the police, the property owner will no longer be able to sell, rent, or share ownership of the building and land. Any alterations to the property have also been prohibited.
The Srinagar police emphasized that the campaign to protect society from the dangers of drugs will continue, and strict actions will be taken against those involved in drug trafficking. They have also urged citizens to share any information related to drug trafficking with the police to help make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
