Mahua Moitra Alleges Misconduct on Indigo Flight to Delhi

New Delhi, May 7: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has accused fellow passengers of misconduct and harassment on an Indigo flight heading to Delhi. She claimed that some individuals onboard targeted her with inappropriate behavior and chanting.

Moitra shared her experience on the social media platform X, stating she was traveling on Indigo flight 6E-719 to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. According to her, she was seated in 1F when a group of four to six people boarded the aircraft.

The TMC MP alleged that these individuals continuously stared at her and later moved to the back of the plane. She noted that after the flight landed in Delhi, but before the door opened, they began chanting “Jai Shri Ram.”

Moitra described the incident as a violation of her safety and personal dignity, asserting that it should not be dismissed as “public anger.” She claimed it was a deliberate act intended to mentally distress her.

The TMC MP has called for strict action against Indigo Airlines and tagged Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu in her demands. She urged the airline to make the flight crew’s report public and to place the involved passengers on a no-fly list.

This incident comes at a time when the political atmosphere in West Bengal is heated following the assembly election results. The BJP is poised to form a government, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee insists that the Trinamool Congress still holds a “moral mandate” and may consider legal options regarding the election outcomes.

Political reactions have surged on social media regarding this incident. TMC leader Sagarika Ghosh supported Mahua Moitra, labeling the event as “unacceptable” and calling on Indigo to ensure passenger safety and enforce decorum rules during flights.
