Mumbai, April 18: The weather in Maharashtra is set to change in the coming days. According to forecasts from the state government, storms and rain are expected across many regions from April 20 to 22. This period may also witness thunder, strong winds, and possible hail in certain areas.
The Meteorological Department indicates that parts of western Maharashtra, including the Ghats, Khandesh, Marathwada, and some areas of Vidarbha, may experience partial cloud cover along with strong winds and rain after noon. Experts suggest that this shift is due to the activation of sudden weather systems. Signs of this change may be evident as early as April 19, when storms and rain are likely in the Ghats of western Maharashtra, northern Khandesh, and southern Marathwada in the afternoon. Following this, the extent of rainfall is expected to increase on April 20 and 21.
During these two days, several locations in the Pune division of western Maharashtra, southern parts of Marathwada, and the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar region, as well as the Amravati division in Vidarbha, may record rainfall. However, by April 22, a decrease in the intensity of storms and the affected areas is anticipated.
In light of the potential weather changes, the Agriculture Department has advised farmers to exercise caution. They should plan their agricultural activities according to the weather and take necessary steps to protect their crops. Farmers are encouraged to avoid leaving harvested crops exposed and instead secure them in safe locations or cover them with tarps. Additionally, they should make appropriate arrangements to safeguard crops from damage due to storms, rain, and potential hail.
Furthermore, the department has advised against leaving agricultural produce, vegetables, and other cut products outdoors to prevent losses in case of sudden adverse weather conditions.
The Meteorological Department and agricultural experts have also urged the public to remain vigilant during inclement weather and to avoid unnecessary outings in open areas.
