Shimla, April 22: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced that the proposed increased tariffs for certain rooms in government guest houses will not be implemented just yet. The new rates will take effect only after the online booking portal is updated.
According to an official notice from the General Administration Department (GAD), the revised rates for rooms designated under the commercial quota will be enforced once the necessary technical changes are completed in the ‘Himatithi’ online booking system.
Until then, the old rates established on February 5, 2025, will remain in effect. This arrangement applies to all relevant properties, including the Himachal Bhawan in New Delhi, the Himachal Bhawan in Chandigarh, and the Willy Park Circuit House in Shimla.
Previously, the government had decided to raise the rates for 24 rooms from ₹1,200 to ₹4,000 per night. These rooms were to be made available for online booking to the public under a 20 percent quota. However, due to technical updates on the portal, this decision has been postponed for the time being.
The department has stated that the new tariffs will only be effective after the portal updates are completed and implemented. Until then, the existing tariffs will apply.
This move by the government aims to make the guest house booking process more transparent and user-friendly. Once the portal is updated, the public will be able to book rooms online without needing departmental approval.
Officials have indicated that once the portal is fully updated, all designated rooms will be available online at the revised rates, enhancing accessibility and digital management of accommodation services.
