Mumbai, June 10: Authorities in Maharashtra are on high alert following bomb threats directed at several prominent locations across three cities. The threats have sparked significant concern among local administration and security agencies, which are currently investigating the matter.
Reports indicate that a threatening email mentioned plans to bomb the office of the Mayor of Mumbai, the Pune Municipal Corporation, key sites in Nagpur, and the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The email allegedly referenced the use of IEDs and included specific dates and times for the planned attacks.
In the email received by the Mayor of Mumbai, threats were made to bomb her vehicle and office. As a precaution, the building was evacuated. The email also mentioned the Chief Minister’s office and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) office, stating, “We aim to destroy the economy of India.”
Following the receipt of the threatening email, local authorities, including the municipal corporation and security agencies, were put on high alert. An investigation has commenced, and efforts are underway to trace the sender of the email.
In a separate incident, the Nagpur police received an email warning of potential bombings at the RSS headquarters and the Pune Municipal Corporation. The email referenced the RSS’s support for the 1984 ‘Operation Blue Star’ and claimed, “The RSS, which is now the BJP, supported this operation.”
The Nagpur police received this email around 10 AM. Subsequently, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) arrived at the RSS headquarters at 11 AM and conducted a thorough search for nearly two hours. Officials reported that no suspicious items were found during the investigation.
