Maharashtra Police Arrest Four Female Thieves After Bus Heist

Washim, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : In a recent incident in Washim, Maharashtra, police apprehended four women accused of stealing from a 70-year-old passenger on a state transport bus. The victim, Chandra Kala Bodkhe, reported that her bag containing gold jewelry worth ₹1.5 lakh and ₹28,000 in cash was taken during the journey.

The theft occurred while the bus was en route from Mangrulpir to Akola. The four women targeted Bodkhe’s bag, managing to slip away with the valuables as the bus reached the Shelu Bazaar stop. Passengers on board grew suspicious of the women as they exited the bus.

When Bodkhe checked her bag, she discovered the jewelry and cash were missing. In distress, she called for help, prompting local police to respond quickly. Investigators learned that the suspects had left the bus and boarded an auto-rickshaw. Acting swiftly, police pursued and arrested the women.

Authorities recovered the stolen gold and cash, which were promptly returned to Bodkhe. This incident follows another recent case in the Washim district, where local crime branch officials uncovered two sandalwood thefts, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of 16 pieces weighing nine kilograms.
