Maharashtra Man Impersonates Ministers Aide, Swindles Social Worker of ₹5,000
A man in Maharashtras Khed district duped a social worker by posing as a ministers aide, taking ₹5,000 for a promised meeting.

Khed, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Khed, located in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district, a case of fraud has emerged involving a man who posed as the personal assistant of state minister Yogesh Kadam. The accused, identified as Raviraj Chikhale, allegedly swindled ₹5,000 from a social worker named Vidyadhar Dattaram Salunkhe on September 17.
Salunkhe intended to bring attention to illegal stone quarries operating in the Chiplun taluka, claiming they were causing significant revenue loss to the government. During this time, Chikhale introduced himself as Kadam’s aide, assuring Salunkhe that he would facilitate a meeting with the minister and help address the issue.
However, Salunkhe later reported that he was neither granted a meeting with Kadam nor did Chikhale fulfill his promises. Despite receiving the payment, the accused failed to deliver on his commitments.
Based on Salunkhe’s complaint, Khed police registered a case on October 18 under crime number 342/2026. The case is being investigated according to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 318(2), 318(4), and 319(2). Authorities have stated that the allegations against Chikhale will not be confirmed until the investigation is complete.
In a similar incident, Delhi police arrested a 44-year-old man on September 29 for impersonating a prominent political leader’s partner, allegedly defrauding a businessman in Dwarka of ₹1.69 lakh. The accused, Bhaleinder Pal Singh, used an official-looking profile picture on a messaging app to gain the victim’s trust, requesting immediate funds for a student’s tuition, promising reimbursement from the leader’s office afterward. The businessman later realized he had been scammed after transferring money to several bank accounts and booking a flight from Delhi to Lucknow.
