New Delhi, August 22: This week has seen a significant rise in the prices of gold and silver, with both precious metals increasing by over ₹8,000 per 10 grams and ₹12,000 per kilogram, respectively.

According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold has surged by ₹8,257, reaching ₹1,60,620 per 10 grams, up from ₹1,52,363 per 10 grams previously.

The price of 22-carat gold has also risen, now standing at ₹1,47,128 per 10 grams, compared to ₹1,39,565 per 10 grams earlier. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold is now priced at ₹1,20,465 per 10 grams, an increase from ₹1,14,272 per 10 grams.

Silver prices have also experienced a notable increase. The price of silver rose by ₹12,788, now costing ₹2,46,630 per kilogram, up from ₹2,33,842 per kilogram.

The highest silver price this week was noted on August 21 in the evening session at ₹2,46,630 per kilogram, while the lowest was seen on August 19 during the morning session at ₹2,27,392 per kilogram.

IBJA releases the prices of gold and silver twice daily, in the morning and evening sessions.

On the international front, gold is priced at approximately $4,600 per ounce, while silver is around $69 per ounce.

Experts attribute the rise in gold and silver prices to a decline in bond yields and a significant demand for safe investments, which is supporting purchases of both precious metals.
