Mumbai, August 26: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has canceled the Drug Inspector recruitment exam following a paper leak. Sandeep Deshpande, a leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has raised serious questions regarding the government’s handling of the situation.
Deshpande stated, “Prime Minister Modi has been emphasizing the seriousness of paper leak issues for the past month. He even passed a new rule in Parliament to address such cases strictly. Now, with the MPSC Drug Inspector exam paper leak in Maharashtra, and police investigations confirming the leak—where someone received the question paper just two days before the exam—my question is, why hasn’t an FIR been filed?”
He further questioned the government’s intentions, asking, “Why is the government not filing an FIR? If the preliminary investigation has proven that the paper was leaked, why the delay in filing a report? Who are you trying to protect? Is there collusion among government agencies in these paper leak cases? A thorough investigation is necessary.”
Additionally, Deshpande addressed the issue of the Marathi language in Maharashtra. He mentioned that the MNS is actively promoting the Marathi language. “A few days ago, we organized a class for Hindi-speaking auto-rickshaw drivers. Nearly 5,000 drivers attended and took the exam. We taught them Marathi,” he said.
He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating, “The BJP has created elements that want to create a divide between ‘Marathi manus’ and speakers of other languages. I believe this is their agenda. We will not fall for their tactics. Ninety-five percent of auto-rickshaw drivers are willing to learn Marathi; only a few are resistant.”
Furthermore, Deshpande commented on the tragic suicide of a contractor in Mumbai, criticizing the state government. “The situation in Maharashtra is very sad. You talk about the state’s development, but those working on development projects are not being paid. Maharashtra used to be a financially strong and independent state. If you do not pay contractors, how will development work proceed?”
